Emma Watson left her Oxford University boyfriend behind in 2014. Looks like her relationship with Matt Janney is officially said and done! Rumored ‘Beauty and the Beast’ actress celebrated her singledom in the new year.

According to Yahoo! UK, “the 24-year-old actress and Matthew Janney, a 22-year-old student and rugby player at Oxford University, broke up about a month ago after a year of dating.”

And yes, you guessed it. It was ‘Beauty and the Beast’ actress that initiated the split.

Her reps confirmed the news to Daily Mail, but didn’t forget to mention that the split was “amicable”. It always seems to be in Hollywood! We wonder what the real dirt is.

The official dirt on the the breakup between Emma Watson and Matt Janney is that ‘Beauty and the Beast’ actress was too busy with her career. According to Yahoo! UK, she is “currently filming Colonia Dignidad, a political drama co-starring Daniel Brühl in Buenos Aires.”

If we had to choose between Matt Janney and Buenos Aires, we would definitely choose Argentina as well!

Emma Watson didn’t forget to keep the rest of us guessing over who her next boyfriend may be. She told Elle in March that she is not looking for love in the obvious places.

"I don't date people who are famous, and I don't think it's fair that, all of a sudden, intimate details of their personal life are public as a direct result of me," she said. "I wish I could protect them."
